Healthy nutrition and movement can lower risk for cancer, as well as heart attack, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol.  With all of these beneficial “side effects”, everyone should desire to live a consistently healthy lifestyle. However, it can be challenging to practice healthy habits when life gets busy. The accountability and encouragement of a close-knit community can be instrumental in achieve our goals. We established 360-Wellness Communities to provide regular support, recipes, fitness hacks, and inspiration to maintain a healthy mindset.

With multidisciplinary training and experience in oncology, epidemiology, and genetics, Dr. Palomares, affectionately known as “Dr. Mel”, practices Preventive Oncology. Her focus is cancer prevention, early detection, and risk assessment.

Dr. Mel earned her bachelor degree in mathematics at Boston University, masters in epidemiology at University of Washington, and doctorate in medicine at Emory University. She completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by fellowships in Hematology at Harbor-UCLA, and Medical Oncology at Fred Hutch, and Clinical Cancer Genetics at University of Washington.

After nearly 20 years in academic medicine, first at the Fred Hutch in Seattle, WA, and then at the City of Hope in the Los Angeles metro area, Dr. Mel founded Cancer Prevention Movement, which brings people together to Work Towards a Cancer-Free World.
